Principal’s Welcome
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to St. Patrick’s Senior School and our website. We are going through an exciting time in our school with four new classrooms and three new learning support rooms under construction. Our school is located in the heart of Skerries town right beside Skerries Community Centre and sharing a campus with St. Patrick’s Junior National School. We are very lucky with our location right beside Skerries Windmill, the Community Centre’s facilities and also beside Skerries Harps GAA club.
Our school currently has approximately 340 children on the roll, 20 teachers, 3 SNA’s and 7 ancillary staff. We currently cater for 3 classes at 3rd and 4th class level, and 4 classes at 5th and 6th class level.
St. Patrick’s Senior School is a Catholic school named after St. Patrick who has been linked historically to the Skerries area. The parish church and indeed a local island off the coast are also named in his honour. Our school building dates back to 1973 when it was built but St. Patrick’s National School itself dates back over a century to its existence in Skerries.
Our staff is highly professional and dedicated to the full development of each child. Our parents are actively involved in the Board of Management and the Parents’ Association. Through teacher and parental volunteerism, we are able to run numerous extracurricular initiatives for our students such as Football, Hurling, Green Schools, Athletics, Soccer, Wellbeing classes, Rainbows and much more.
As Principal, I am fortunate to work in such a happy and close-knit school community of staff, parents and children.
Thank you,
Oisín McGinty
